          Le service scientifique est responsable du diagnostic, de la surveillance des maladies bactériennes et du suivi de la susceptibilité aux antibiotiques. Il regroupe des laboratoires reconnus pour leur expertise au niveau belge et international. Son rôle au sein du réseau des laboratoires de surveillance et de référence s’étend également à l’étude des mécanismes de virulence et de résistance des souches aux antibiotiques. Les thématiques développées par le service sont : Maladies gastro-intestinales & méningites bactériennes, Maladies respiratoires bactériennes, Tuberculose & Mycobactéries, Antibiothérapie & résistance au traitement.
